Scale
Scale can reduce circulation.
You know there is scale in your pool if there are white, grey or brownish chalky deposits appearing on pool walls and fixtures. It can result in rough pool wall surfaces and reduced circulation flow. Scale can occur if the water's pH, total alkalinity or calcium hardness levels are too high.
Solution
- High pH: Lower pH in the range of 7.2 - 7.6 with HTH® pH Minus
- High Total Alkalinity: Lower total alkalinity with HTH® pH Minus
- High Calcium Hardness: Excessively high hardness levels may require that some water be drained from the pool.
Preventative Maintenance
- Maintain pH in the range of 7.2 - 7.6
- Maintain calcium hardness in the range of 200 - 500 ppm
- Use HTH® Metal Control
- Maintain total alkalinity in the range of 60 - 120 ppm
